In Vitro Penetration Test (IVPT)

Understanding the localization and penetration of drugs within the skin is crucial for assessing their potential activity. Aliri offers a label-free Mass Spectrometry Imaging technique to investigate the path of penetration and the concentration of drugs, metabolites, and biomarkers directly within the skin structure. This unique imaging approach eliminates the drug contamination typically observed on skin biopsies due to the punch preparation of patient samples.

Additionally, we combine Mass spectrometry imaging with digital pathology to measure the distribution, penetration, and accumulation of active compounds in various skin structured, including sebaceous glands, sweat glands, hair shafts or follicles, epidermis and different depths of the dermis.

This includes:

  • Label-free imaging at 20µm spectral resolution
  • Quantification of drug and related metabolites down to the microenvironment of the skin
  • Molecular and histological images overlay within multimodal platform and dedicated software (Multimaging™)
  • Label-free penetration profile generation from the Stratum Corneum to the deep dermis.

Our team can also use  LC-MS/MS (liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry) to accurately quantify drug penetration at different layers of the skin.
